On April 30, 2008 at 15.00, the exhibition and presentation of the general catalogue “The Jewelry Art of Kazakhstan of the 19th- 20th centuries” will be held at the A. Kasteev State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In the estimates of art historians and museum’s employees, the catalogue, issued for the first time in the history of Kazakhstan, is a unique and rare edition. The A. Kasteev State Museum of Arts of the Republic of Kazakhstan has a rich collection of Kazakh folk and contemporary decorative and applied art which comprises currently over 5 000 items. The present catalogue contains about 2 000 remarkable pieces of Kazakh jewelry.

The Kazakh Art Research Center pursues one of the basic goals of work of the A. Kasteev State Museum of Arts to collect, research works of Kazakh Art as well as to disseminate the knowledge about it. At present the museum collection includes over 10 000 pieces of Kazakh painting, graphics, sculpture and theatre decoration arts. The Center has a special files containing the information about artists and all the works from the museum collection. The researchers of the Center give lectures and guided tours for visitors of all categories.
The researchers of the Center run a serious scientific work exploring the history of establishment and development of Kazakh Art. Many exhibitions in the A. Kasteev State Museum of Arts are being realized under curatorial support of the Center staff. They also organize ant take part in various conferences, seminars and round tables on the issues related to the development of the national art, cultural studies and general theoretical problems.
The considerable work is done by the curators of the Center in the museum funds, compiling the catalog, attribution and expertise of the works of Kazakh Art. The Center participated in a range of editions as follows: “The Digital Catalog “The Kazakh Painting” (Under Support of the Soros Foundation), “The Complete Catalog of the A. Kasteev’s Artworks”(2006 With support of the UNESCO), “The Jubilee Album of A. Kasteev”(2005), the album “O. Tansikbayev”(2005), “The Highlights of Kazakh Art”(2005). The catalogs of Kazakh graphics and sculpture are in the making.
